Wrestling with Warnock Round 4

From “Feast of Tabernacles,” Chapter 1- Continued

As surely, therefore, as God’s Word is true and His oath immutable–so surely is the Lord now raising up a new generation who shall be empowered to take the promised land of spiritual power and authority, and enter into the realm of the Spirit of God. “Some must enter therein…” If this new generation withdraws from the promises in the face of violent opposition, it too will perish in the wilderness, and God will wait for still another generation to take the land. Because, “some must enter therein…” His Word has declared it, and it must come to pass. We feel confident, however, that this time God’s people will not fail; that in this great hour God Himself will intervene in wonderful sovereignty on behalf of those who see the vision, and will take them through to complete and glorious victory. We cannot help but believe that this new generation will, by God’s Grace, cross over Jordan and possess the Kingdom prepared for the “little flock” from the foundation of the world. The powers of heaven are being shaken, according to the prophetic Word. Great and momentous spiritual battles are being fought and won in heavenly places. Spiritual hosts of wickedness are beginning to feel the impact of the saints who are pressing in by the Spirit and beginning to possess their possessions in “the heavenlies.” And above all, the saints of God are receiving gifts of the Spirit, the gifts are developing into ministries of the Spirit–and these ministries constitute God’s only method “for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ; till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” (Eph. 4:12, 13). Bro. Warnock writes, “God Himself will intervene in wonderful sovereignty on behalf of those who see the vision, and will take them through to complete and glorious victory.” Just how important then is seeing the vision? Proverbs 29:8 says, “Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, But happy is he who keeps the law” (NASB). In many ways, we are running like the wild horses Proverbs describes as unrestrained with no purpose. Vision, in this verse, refers to a prophetic knowing, alive with potentiality. It is true that “some must enter therein” to the promised land of spiritual power and authority. It is also true that those who do enter will do so by becoming pregnant with the seed of God’s purpose and carrying that new life full term.

I wrote the following concerning vision in essay 1 of  “Essays on Revival”:
“I believe vision is not something we first see with the eyes but with the heart. And there are many ways vision comes to us. It is sometimes conveyed when voices are heard. It can come through angelic visitation or come as words on a page become alive. It can come by a prophetic word being spoken. It can come as a heart response to the circumstances we find ourselves in. By these means, among others, vision impregnates us and begins to grow as a baby in the womb, hidden away in our depths, safe from the prying eyes of others, and slowly develops with the utmost purpose. Just as a natural pregnancy cannot be hidden forever, vision will begin to manifest on the surface as the process within the womb of our heart continues to mature the life it holds and nourishes within.”

Bro. Warnock continues, “We cannot help but believe that this new generation will, by God’s Grace, cross over Jordan and possess the Kingdom prepared for the “little flock” from the foundation of the world. The powers of heaven are being shaken, according to the prophetic Word. Great and momentous spiritual battles are being fought and won in heavenly places.”

Yes, battles are being fought, and some are being won, but the war continues. Part of the reason for this is that we have often fought with a carnal mindset and not the mind of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 tells us, “3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, 4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 5We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” When we employ a carnal strategy, how can we expect to be victors in spiritual warfare?

But, what happens when God’s people see the vision and act upon it? Warnock answers, “Spiritual hosts of wickedness are beginning to feel the impact of the saints who are pressing in by the Spirit and beginning to possess their possessions in “the heavenlies.”

One problem the church has is we have spent countless time, energy, and emotional capital on possessing and maintaining possessions in the natural realm at the expense of spiritual possessions. Larger buildings, more programs, massive crowds, and, of course, more income to fund it all, has become the stone around the neck of Western Christianity. Instead of growing up into Him in all things, we have adopted a corporate mindset wrought with corporate problems.

God has a better path for us because His thoughts are higher, and His ways far excel our own. Bro. Warnock explains it this way:
“And above all, the saints of God are receiving gifts of the Spirit, the gifts are developing into ministries of the Spirit–and these ministries constitute God’s only method “for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ; till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” (Eph. 4:12, 13).
